Blowing Rock Event Raises Funds to Save Mountain Lands
December 13th, 2007
More
than 100 people gathered at the Inn at Crestwood in Blowing Rock on
August 24 to learn more about preserving the Blue Ridge Parkway and
other mountain lands. The event raised more than $15,000 for land
protection in Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Watauga, and Wilkes counties. The
Conservation Trust extends its sincere thanks to the event supporters
for their generosity (see list below). On the following day two dozen
guests participated in a tour of properties protected by the
Conservation Trust along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Watauga and Wilkes
Counties. The tour included several stops at protected sites and lunch
with a short hike near CTNC-protected land at the Cascades Falls
Overlook. CTNC board member Dr. Chuck Smith and Parkway naturalist and
High Country Conservancy Board member Bob Cherry helped to lead the
tour.
